Sonic The Hedgehog
Sonic the Hedgehog is the famous mascot of Sega. Sonic is a blue hedgehog who is all about speed. He can curl himself up in a ball and spin super fast. If he rolls forward while spinning he takes out any enemy in his path.
Sonic the hedgehog has appeared on many consoles. From 16bit consoles, all the way up to the game consoles we have now. His first appearance was on the Sega Megadrive/Genesis. The game was simply called Sonic the Hedgehog. Of course, multiple sonic the hedgehog sequals appeared.
In the first game Sonic his nemesis was also introduced, dr. Robotnik. He is always his nemesis in the games.
Sonic became so famous that cartoons came out. The newer ones are Sonic Underground and Sonic X.
The cartoons are very popular with the younger crowd. This is also a good way to introduce kids to Sonic the hedgehog, because he has been around for a while.
When talking about Sonic, you cannot forget his trusty sidekick Tails. Tails has similar skills to Sonic, but he can also fly and lift Sonic up when he needs help.
This was an excellent strategy to use in the older Sonic games. You would lift the hedgehog and attack enemies from the air, without risking yourself to take any damage. You could also use this technique to collect rings.
Another cool trick you could do in the old games, was run so fast through the levels that the screen could not even keep up. The only thing you would see is the end where the sign shows you finished the level.
The Sonic games also had many different features to collect. Some of these were the cool blue shield, extra rings, and super shoes that give you extra speed for a short time.
